Closer home, from Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone and Alia Bhatt to Sonam Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Kangana Ranaut, Madhuri Dixit-Nene and Juhi Chawla, all seem to have been smitten with the 'power look'. They have not only made the 'lapelled jackets-fitted pants' trend popular, they have also infused femininity, colour and pizzazz into the silhouette.
It's not just about suiting up - wearing it right is the key to nailing the look. Now that the power suit has moved out of the boardroom, one can experiment with its structuring, colour palette, print as well as pairing and accessorizing. As the look itself is oh-so-powerful, the trick is to keep it simple and sexy.
A hint of print or absolutely no print, a dash of bling or a splash of colour, a skinny tie or slim lapels, a double-breasted or a waistcoat - everything works. While slim pants, chinos and even formal pants make perfect companions, one can pair them with formal shirts, Peter Pan collar dresses, and printed and embellished tops of all lengths.
