Get the best out of push ups with a little extra effort.

If you are not a gym freak, you can still get a toned body by following simple exercise regimen at home itself. And push-ups are one of the most effective exercises to do at home that will give you really good results.

You can make you classic push-ups more effective in various ways. Doing small little adjustments can bring better results. You can try and keep you legs higher up, or keep your hands closer than normal, left one leg while doing the push-ups, or place your hands on uneven surface to extract more effort from the body.

And while there are many ways of making the classic push-ups tougher and thus more effective, there is one way that will give really good results. This is by adding more weight to you body. By weight we mean, using metal loads by keeping it on your back and then doing the push ups. Adding loads in this manner uses more muscle fiber and also increases the intensity of the movement.

Start with small loads, 10 percent of your total body weight, and as you get used to them, steadily increase in the multiples of 5. Make sure you warm up before using the loads. Try and do 20 push-ups before you use the weight for best results.
