Foil tats became popular abroad earlier this year with beach-goers using them to accessorise their bikini and swimsuit looks. It became a trend to follow after young stars like Alessandra Ambrosia, Vanessa Hudgens and a number of fashion bloggers were spotted in these temporary metallic tattoos at a bunch of music festivals.
Why it works: You don't need to visit the tattoo studio and spend hours in pain to get one. Nor do you have to live with the design for the rest of your life. Besides, all you need to apply it — in the comfort of your home — is water.
Where to get it: Street markets in Santacruz (W) and Vile Parle (E) abound with little holes-in-the-wall that sell sheets of metallic tattoos in readymade patterns. They offer designs such as chain link, feathers, Egyptian motifs, tribal art and flowers.
How to wear it: Mix and match patterns to create a unique effect. Stick it on your fingers like rings, wrists like a stack of bracelets, arms like an arm cuff, neck like a chain, or belly like a waist chain.
