Night is mine
You don't live in a place where there are grandmas, granddads, an aunt or an uncle to take care of us when both of the parents are out of town. Neither do you live in an era where there will always be one of the parents to pamper us in the absence of the other. There might be an audit held abroad that will require your CA mom to step out of the country. Darned luck will also set up an urgent meeting for your dad with a bunch of can-never-say-no-to clients that may make him leave the town in haste.
Now what happens to you? Home alone! If that happens to be the first time for you then it is bound to make you jump wildly with joy. The thought of uninhibited freedom can be as delicious as the cheese pasta you are planning to make for the evening. A small stick on note with the to-dos that you had been fantasising till now, will be stuck up in a prominent place. However, when the plans of a sleepover or any other company fail, the euphoria will die down. And the thought of staying alone for a night may tantalise your every screaming sense.
Here is the survival guide to the first timers who are staying all alone.
Food is something you had always had on the plate at the snap of your fingers. But no, this time you will have to prepare it or plan it. Instant food or dinner take outs can help you but if you happen to be a prowess at kitchen then the stage is all yours. If sleepover is not possible inviting a neighbour or any other friend for sometime can be a good option. Otherwise watching a movie or listening to music with speakers can be good. Even better for the goons who know that people leaving the house might have left with suitcases but will also be cautioned that they have left behind someone to take care of the house. Avoid rejoicing in front of the world that you are all alone. People can overhear your conversation on the phone so can online lurkers read your status updates and happily plan the big loot. Securing the house and yourself is as important as having fun. Locking the doors and windows at the right time and keeping the noise at sane levels will take care of you. You can always have a 3 am friend to give you company. Reset the speed dial for the night with emergency numbers that can come to use at the right moment.
Ensure you have an awesome and say no to dares for the one night! Stealing some time all for yourself can be fun. Enjoy it, the night is all yours!
