It is impossible to fit technology into a small clutch as most women experience every time they try to fit a mobile phone and/or an iPad, along with a lipstick, a bunch of keys and a tiny bottle of perfume into one tiny little bag. It's hard work and usually, the option is to let go off at least the perfume. However, a new option from recent runways seems to have become a viable and chic alternative.
The A4-sized clutch bag made it to the runway during quite a few shows at the recently concluded Milan Fashion Week. To add to that, many front row regulars too were seen sporting big hand-held clutches during the week, which they said made it easy for them to carry their tech knick-knacks as well as their make-up must-haves.
The 'power clutch' or the document-holder bag, as it is being hailed, implies business, concurred many fashion analysts after the fashion week. The size of the bag coupled with its usability factor is what makes it an appropriate choice both for personal and professional appearances.
Closer home, the big clutch has started making appearances too. Gul Panag paired a large, silver clutch bag with a black sari at the fashion week in Mumbai. To keep the focus squarely on her look, she chose just a pair of large earrings and kept her hands bare. Sabina Singh went the pop route as she paired a bright neon clutch with a basic white outfit and lemon-coloured tank. Amrita Arora paired her pink neon A4 clutch with mint-green nails. Yummylicious, we say!
The tricks in your bag
-When carrying a metallic bag (gold/silver/copper), pick a dark-coloured outfit. Berry shades, black, tones of aubergine and plum will work in perfect tandem with the large clutch.
-Neon clutches are the big trend at most flea markets in the city, including Colaba Causeway, Hill Road and Linking Road. Take a cue from Mansi and mix-and-match a couple of neon tones. The white in her outfit gives enough scope for her to play with neon in the pallu as well as her embroidered pink clutch.
-You can also opt for big hold-it-all bags that fold neatly into clutches and are available in multi-colour pastel options.
