We have heard this statement so many times, but is this statement really true? Nutritionist and freelance writer at Travellers Dietition - Kara Landau, helps us to understand this mystery.

All diet freaks end up debating while clarifying the difference between being healthy and nutritious v/s good for weight management. At the end, they conclude it by stating all these terms are mutually exclusive.

Kara Landau informs - You will find that there are a lot of recipes and nutrition information blogs these days that focus on clean eating recipes (which is fantastic) but they do not assist with explaining portion sizes or calorie density for those that are in search of weight management friendly meals or snacks.

We find so many 'healthy' foods being promoted in the market in the form of various recipes and snacks, but they are certainly not meant for all those who are trying to lose weight - says Kara.

In your weight loss journey, certainly gulping down empty calories is not suggested as they are artificial and pretty much over loaded just with sugar (talking about low calorie chocolate mousse). At times people, who consume bucket load of healthy foods like activated nuts, coconut oil and other range of products, fail to get any results in their weight loss efforts.

To help us understand this strange relationship between healthy eating and weight loss, Kara says - Something can be healthy, but still calorie dense. No, it is not causing your blood glucose levels to fluctuate or your cholesterol to go up, but remember, if you are consuming it in portion sizes that are not appropriate for weight loss, then you will not likely be seeing the results you want on the scales or in your clothing size.

Though these foods are a great replacement for other common desserts or unhealthy counterparts in regards to looking after your insides; but your portion size still counts.

Filling your diet with "paleo" or "grain free" slices, cakes, and bars, will not be the same as fuelling yourself with antioxidant and nutrient rich plant based foods and lean protein. Thus, for a successful weight loss you don't have to try those nutritious recipes or try a paleo diet, you just have to eat in moderation or probably share half of your order with your friend.
