Miley Cyrus: This young pop star caused a bit of a controversy after she was seen sporting an Om tattoo on her left wrist. Fans began debating if getting the symbol tattooed meant that Miley was changing her religious beliefs.

Alyssa Milano: Accompanying a rosary tattoo on Alyssa Milano's back is an Om tattoo at the base of her neck. The actress seems to be quite a fan of the symbol as she also has an Om tattoo on her left wrist.

Jessica Alba: The Sin City star has the Sanskrit word 'padma', which means lotus, tattooed on her right wrist. Spiritually, the lotus is regarded as a physical representation of the human soul; it starts its life beneath murky muddy waters and eventually blossoms into a beautiful flower.

Kimberly Wyatt: The Pussy Cat Dolls member has a Sanskrit tattoo in English script inked on the back of her neck which means, 'let all beings be happy and let my actions contribute to their happiness'.

Gillian Anderson: The X Files star has a Sanskrit word tattooed on her wrist. It was reported that Gillian wanted a Sanskrit tattoo, but it turned out to be one in Hindi. The actress later clarified that the Sanskrit tattoo roughly translates to 'none of your business'.

Rihanna: The S&M singer received some flak for having misspelt a verse from the Bhagavad Gita that she got inked upside down on her hip. Hindu scholars reportedly pointed out that a few words are missing from the verse.

David Beckham: This football hottie pledged his devotion to wife, former Spice Girl Victoria, by getting her name tattooed in Devanagri script on his left forearm. Unfortunately, his tattoo artist also didn't quite get the spelling right.

Katy Perry and Russell Brand: When Katy Perry and Russell Brand were preparing to tie the knot in India in 2010, they both got the Sanskrit word 'anuugacchatu pravaha' tattooed on the inside of their right arm to mark the occasion. The tattoo means 'go with the flow'.

Tommy Lee: Tommy Lee sports many tattoos across his body. A notable one is the Om symbol that he has inked on his stomach. The rocked doesn't shy away from taking off his t-shirt to show off this work of art.
