So after going through various websites and going from post to pillar you have finally got that perfect design that you want to get tattooed. However, the real challenge lies after getting the tattoo as one has to be extremely careful after getting one. A beautiful tattoo can be turned into a disaster if proper care and healing time isn't given to it. So here are few pointers that will help you to take care of that precious piece of art.

1. Once the tattoo is done the tattooist will keep the bandage on to protect the tattoo from dirt and foreign object as well as clothes and water. The tattoo is sensitive at this stage and needs to be protected so as the ink does not seep out of the skin. Cover your tattoo while showering.

2. Keep it away from water: Avoid water on the tattoo area for atleast 2 weeks. If by any chance your tattoo comes in contact with shampoo or soap clean immediately. Also avoid swimming.

3. Keep it away from the sun: Tattoos should also be kept away from harsh sun rays. The sunrays can damage the tattoo easily. Also once your tattoo is healed use a sunscreen with SPF30 whenever you are going out.

4. Do not peel or scratch: You might notice that after a while there might be a possibility of a little scabbing. Do not do that. Also the tattooist will give you the ointment which should be applied so that you don't go through that situation.
