Restaurant Review: C’est Bon

Written By Unknown on Jumat, 05 September 2014 | 18.47

It's a difficult name to start with and most people end up calling it 'Sest Bon' to be understood! C'est Bon is located just off MI Road where its parent hotel - Hotel Imperial was popular for its Chinese restaurant Golden Dragon. C'est Bon came up here two years ago in a totally new avatar as a patisserie-cafe.

Decor: When you walk into the well-lit cafe the first thing that will immediately set your mood is the heavenly smell of freshly brewed coffee - you know you're in a cafe! Then the colourful and attractive interiors catch your attention. ....there is a smallish sitting area with about nine tables that can seat around 36 people. The display counter is well-lit and inviting. There is also first floor seating that is mainly used for kitty parties for a smallish group.

Food: For a cafe and patisserie the menu is quite extensive and on offer is Indian, Chinese, Italian and Continental fare. Since the original Chinese restaurant Golden Dragon was very popular the owners decided to keep that going as well just in case some old timers demanded Chinese! However, the patisserie-cafe menu gives you a wide range of burgers, breads, sandwiches, pastries. You can choose your coffee - Americano (`69) or Caramel Macchiatto (`115) and combine it with any of the popular pastries - Opera (`110) Cheese Cake or Chocolate Truffle. A quick meal can include a Lamb Burger (`275), The Muscle Man - a mushroom and soy patty (`225). Be prepared to fill a form indicating your choice of bread and the accompanying fillings that you want. Also on offer is All Day Breakfast that includes Waffles with Eggs and bacon (`175) and Pancakes with Mapple & Chocolate (`99).

Plus and minus: C'est Bon is a vibrant place and scores in terms of its location, interiors and service - it is quiet and peaceful and certainly a place where you can relax over coffee. However, where it needs to pay a little more attention is mainly in the area of food. The bakery offers a wide range of breads and pastries and the popular items are well-prepared but more attention needs to be paid to items that are less-ordered. Better to go with the tried and tested.
