1. Consider your height before choosing the dress. Shorter women shouldn't pick a long slit dress as it will make them look shorter. Go for a short slit that will accentuate your overall look. Taller women can have it easy by going for long slits.

2. While your height plays a major role, the comfort factor is also something that one needs to keep in mind. Before you decide to slit wide open, remember to pick a dress with a slit that is comfortable for you to carry off. Wearing a high slit dress and trying to cover up is a no-no. So choose something that you can carry off without trying to cover up.

3. If you are blessed with a hot bod, then you can afford to go for a thigh high slit. But if you are not confident about showing off your legs, then go minimal like how Parineeti Chopra chose to reveal at an event recently.

4. Belt/hip chains make a lot of difference to your overall look. Wearing a belt not just highlights your waist, but it gives a flow to your gown.

5. A flattering dress needs the right footwear too. Choose the same colour footwear as your dress. Wearing a contrasting colour will take the limelight away from your legs.

6. Maxi dresses with slits are usually figure-hugging. Make sure you choose the right underwear. Try wearing a thong, but if you are not comfortable, then choose seamless underwear.

A flattering figure and a comfortable pair of stilletoes is all you need to pull off the slit dress. But make sure you don't go over-the-top, and keep your hairdo and make-up minimal.
