Open relationships are fun and devoid of complications. But that doesn't mean there are no rules. There are some basic rules that you should follow even if you are in an open relationship.
Be honest: Being in an open relationship means that you don't have the pressure of a stereotypical relationship and so you don't need to fake anything. Being honest is one things you should always look at. This will keep both of you in a good space and will also help in building trust.
Have safe sex: While this is a pre-requisite for every relationship, its even more important as you are not committing to this person for life. And we don't really need to get into details about how to have safe sex, do we?
Maintain respect: Be open, but don't be hurtful. You might be doing anything outside of the relationship, but if you have other partners, make sure you don't flaunt them to your partner.
Be comfortable: Be open about setting the rules. Open relationship means that you will have other partners as well, but if you are uncomfortable about certain things, like your partner having a relationship with someone you know, then be clear and let them know.
