Babloo Famous Kulfiwala
Mahanagar Palika Chowk & Gandhi Chowk
Making kulfis for: 35 years
USP: You'll get only three basic kulfis here - khova, kaju pista and pista badam kulfi. One can find Babloo's thela at Mahanagar Palika Chowk from 3 pm to 5 pm. And from 5 pm to 10 pm, he is available at Gandhi Chowk, Sadar. The owner of the stall, Babloo, says, "I'm into this business for so long that now I have quite a few regulars seeking me out for my kulfis for years." He also takes orders from many small-time caterers in the city for parties.

Making kulfis for: 15 years
USP: You get only one variety at Prakash Kulfi centre. The simple Badam Khova Kulfi made by vendor Prakash is enough to keep Nagpurians returning for more. "My customers tell me that the reason they are hooked on to my kulfis is the unique taste," says, Prakash. We saw both young and the old kulfi enthusiasts making a beeline for his kulfis.

Making kulfis for: 40 years
USP: This small shop gets rave reviews for its Rabdi Faluda Kulfi and its speciality is that it is sold round the year. The owner, Dilip Bodhwani, says, "Though ice creams today are more in demand, I'm lucky that my kulfi shop is still crowded with customers. I keep the hygiene factor in mind when I prepare the kulfi and this is what is liked by the connoisseurs, apart from the taste, which hasn't changed from my grandfather's time."

Ashok Matka Kulfi Sadar
Making kulfis for: 15 years
USP: The owner, Ashok Prajapati, sells Badam, Badam-pista, Kesar and Plain Kulfis. And he makes sure that the kulfi sticks are quite thick, so that the kulfis slide out of the mould without any trouble. Though he is available near Raskunj at Sadar from 6 pm, along with his huge matka full of kulfis, he gets maximum customers after 10 pm.

Making kulfis for: 14 years
USP: This kulfiwala, Om, doesn't believe in any tam jham; so he keeps three basic kulfis - Badam pista, Kesar and simple Khova kulfi - which are loved by the customers. As his kiosk is open for the entire year and not just during summers, he has earned quite a few regulars.

Making kulfis for: 28 years
USP: Don't miss the Jain Kesar Kulfi, which has all satvik ingredients. You can enjoy it even when you are observing a fast. Diabetics can relish a sugar free kulfi here without any tension. The owner, Mayank Jain, says, "There are quite a few loyalists for Sitafal kulfi as well. Also, there is Alphonso kulfi, which is available throughout the year. We never use preservatives in our kulfis. One can also get kulfis, especially customised according to one's personal choice."

Punjab ki Mashoor kulfi
Dharampeth, Sadar and Pratap Nagar
Making kulfis for: 12 years
USP: Nagpurians can enjoy the delightful Rose, Strawberry, Kesar Pista Matka Kulfis at this kiosk. There are three branches of this outlet - outside Traffic Park, Dharmapeth, on Sadar main road and at Pratap Nagar. According to the owner, Vickey, the kiosk at Dharampeth is the most popular one; it's mostly crowded with young customers and the peak hour is post 9 pm.

Making kulfis for: 60 years
USP: The age-old kulfi gets a makeover at this shop at Jaripatka, which is owned by three friends - Bappi, Jaggi and Suresh. It has a vast variety of mouth-watering kulfis, including Faluda Rabdi kulfi, Rangoli Faluda Rabdi Kulfi, Pan Kulfi etc. The vendors put extra efforts in presenting them with ingredients like tutti frutti, khas sharbat and anjir-badam.

Punjabi kulfiwala Jaripatka
Making kulfis for: 40 years
USP: This is another kulfiwala in Jaripatka area, which is as popular as Shyamlal. Here, you get some mouthwatering chocolate and fruit kulfis too, but it's the Faluda kulfi that is on the top of the list of the city foodies.

Ram Bhandar Badkas Chowk - Mahal
Making kulfis for: 20 years
USP: At this sweet shop, you get delicious Kesar Kulfi made of pure milk and dry fruits, which has been teasing the tastebuds of Nagpurians for long. And now the kulfi lovers head here to gorge on this traditional kulfi. Mango and Rabdi Kulfi, which were introduced last year, are also gaining popularity.
