Had a fight with your best friend?

Here's how to deal with it before your friendship takes a hit

They say, you often fight with the people you love the most. Having an argument with your bestie is not unusual. However, your relationship might be in danger if you've fought and not heard from them post that day (especially if the two of you have a habit of chatting with each other almost every day). If you truly value your relationship, here's how you can sort out the situation before it gets too late.

Identify the problem: Confused about what you fought with your best friend about? Jog your memory and concentrate on what led to the quarrel. Think about what you spoke and if that, in anyway, escalated the situation.

Clear the air: The best option is to pick up the phone and call your friend instead of waiting for him/her to do it first. If you feel that he/she is at fault, put your point across and give your friend a chance to justify.

Apologise: Well, if you are at fault and you've hurt your friend's feelings, it's best to apologise. If you can't get through to him/her, send across a 'sorry' note with a box of chocolates.

Wait for the outcome: This is a tough part but something you have to deal with, especially if you are at fault. Wait for your friend to think about the apology. If he/she wants to end the friendship for good, there is nothing much you can do about it. However, don't get nasty and spoil things further. Be mature and remind your friend of the good times you've spent together and it's quite likely that you'll be forgiven.

Never do anything you will regret: Even if your friend has done something horrible to you, getting revenge is the worst possible thing to do. Instead, take the high road and rid yourself of the malice.
