"If I put extra hours, I make around Rs 200 flat," says Jaiveer Ahuja, who works in a finance managing firm. "This particular month, which is an end of financial year, is quite busy. Last week when I worked till 2 am, I wasn't tired at all. Maybe, because I was excited to get some extra money for the work I did."
While some feel that working till late is a good idea, as they can concentrate much, but for many it's purely a monetary benefit. "I have asked my boss to put permanently on the night shift," says telecom company employee Anurag Ahuja.
According to the recent norms an employee is entitled to claim for conveyance, food and taxi allowance if working over time. And if he sits till morning he can claim more in form of the breakfast expenses.
Insiders say that most of the MNCs and offshore companies operating form India are keeping such things in mind. "Extra benefits not only spreads contentment among the employees, but also drives them to give out more efficiency," says Chavinder Pal, who has worked in personnel department in a multinational company. Adikhsha Virk, who works in an in-bound call centre, says, "Companies make the night shifts more attractive with incentives and I can always catch up on my studies during the day."
It's not just the MNC's who are operating round the clock, rather the tutions are witnessing the concept of night coaching. "Students find till late night coachings interesting as they tend to concentration well at that time," adds Dr VS Trikha, a tutor.
