Give your pet a new summer haircut

It's that time of the year again when your furry friends would love to take a dip in the pool and enjoy chilled out pampering sessions. And why not? Summers are a time when your pets deserve and require just as much pampering as you do.

This summer, give your pet some of the trendy cuts that are hot this season.

According to Priya Roshan Poduval, owner of a pet's resort in the city, the Lion cut is what is in currently.

"The lion cut is in vogue at the moment. It looks pretty cute on the Lhasa Apso, Persian cat and German Shepherds. This style involves cutting the body hair extremely short while leaving the facial hair flowing like a lion's mane. The tail is trimmed along the length leaving some hair at only the tip," she said.

The hair-cuts mostly come in bath packages that include a hair-cut, ear cleaning and a bath. Such packages cost anywhere between `1000 to `400. Professional pet groomer Rupal Zingde, shared, "The puppy cut, teddy cut and crew cut are some of the fun hair-cuts pet owners can also choose from."

Focussing on the bad hair days suffered by pets, Rupal suggested, "For avoiding sunburns, we advise pet owners not to shave off the pet's hair completely. The problem of tangled knots is something that hairy pets have trouble with. So instead of just chopping off the hair unevenly, we suggest you give your pet a fun hair-cut."

Following a hair-cut, every pet is usually treated with a bow or a ribbon. A Lhasa Apso can flaunt her fur with some funky cute ribbons, while those with less hair like Labradors can look cool with a bow around their collar.

Priya also feels that apart from hair-cuts — what most of the pet owners come for — a small pool party makes the pet's resort a more fun place. She added, "We recently hosted a pool party for the pets and all our furry friends had a great time there as dogs love water."

The refreshments are also something that the pets look forward to during summers. Treat your pet with vanilla ice-cream or malai kulfi as treats. Priya added, "Sometimes vanilla is good for their tummy during this weather."
