This Holi, if you don't want to experience a splitting headache or a stomach upset after having some delicious bhang thandai, follow these simple homemade remedies to keep that hangover at bay.

Stay hydrated: Drinking lots of water will help flux out all the toxins from your body and rehydrate your system. If you're dehydrated, bhang will have a prolonged effect on you.

Keep your stomach full: Just like alcohol, don't consume bhang on an empty stomach. Avoid eating oily, fried and heavy food. After drinking, you can have fresh fruits and green salads to keep yourself energised. To combat nausea, eat a banana; it's a natural antacid.

Don't pop painkillers: You will be tempted to consume a painkiller to get rid of your headache. But they can cause acidity, aggravate nausea and worsen your hangover.

Consume lemon water: To restore the salts in your body and prevent the formation of free radicals, drink lemon water or lemonade, as these drinks are full of vitamin C and antioxidants.

Avoid tea and coffee: Coffee contains caffeine, which will make your hangover worse. Consuming tea with herbal infusions like jasmine, will reduce your headache and counter the effects of bhang.
