Grunge fashion has been du jour from time unknown. And a recent addition that has made punk style an eye-catcher is the ear cuff. What's more, this look can be modified for the ethnic avatar as well. The accessory, which is a native in the desi market, was revived by brands on the international runway this year. And then it went over to catch the fancy of stylistas like Cara D, Emma Watson, Rihanna, Jessica Alba among many others, making the ear cuff a regular sighting on the red carpet and otherwise. Closer home, actresses like Sonam Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Jacqueline Fernandez have also been sporting this funky accessory. Want to score brownie points for being fashion-forward? Hold on to those feathered, spiked, studded, looped, chained (yes, there's a range of them) ear cuffs.
What to keep in mind while donning this piece of jewellery:
1. This is a statement piece, so keep it simple. Don this as you sport a self-toned dress and the ear cuff will take care of the rest of your look. Also, avoid wearing a hair band with it. Over accessorise at the risk of resembling a jewellery store.
2. Wear them in pairs, but make sure the cuffs are light to the eye and do not portray a busy look. But we think, just one ear cuff will (for sure) pepper your ensemble.
3. If you are using the ear cuff as an accessory to accentuate your attire, make sure it is seen. An updo or a ponytail is what we recommend. Do not let your hair loose (unless you go for side sweep hairdo, which also looks great) as this will draw attention away from the cuff.
4. Have multiple ear piercings? We suggest you go bare minimum with just the cuff out there. The tragus, rook and anti-helix piercings (or others) can be given a break for a day.
5. Smokey eyes or dark, winged-tip eyes would be the perfect partner with this piece of adornment. And well, do not forget a shade of bold lipwear — this will complete the look.
