Latest research conducted in the UK concluded that about 2.3 million pet lovers, in Britain alone, share pictures of their furry friends every day. They are also most likely to create a dedicated social media account for their pet; taking a cue from heiress and reality TV star Millie Mackintosh, whose dog Herby has his own Twitter account.
Pets have always dominated their owner's social lives; but it is interesting to note how they have sheepishly taken over their social media activity too.
Sreetama Ghosh, a 25-year-old technical writer from Bangalore, is a pet lover who spends most of her time with her two dogs: Squash and Juno. "I love uploading their pictures simply because they are so cute! Squash is lazy, so when I dress her up, she sits quietly through all the torture. Juno is far too restless. It's impossible to capture a nice profile shot of hers, but I still manage," says Ghosh.
Statistically speaking, one in every seven petstagrammers has admitted that they upload more pictures of their animals than their family or friends.
