Standing for three extra hours a day can burn up to 4 kg of fat in a year as it will improve blood circulation. Several reports in recent times have warned us about the adverse effects of desk-based work. It not only leads to severe backache (spondylitis is catching on like a plague in urban India) and increases the risk of diabetes, but also results in a midriff bulge. This latest study comes just in time to give us another reason to push our chairs back.
