Najeeb Ur Rehman, national technical head, Schwarzkopf Professional, picks hairstyles that will be most in demand this summer.
Braids: Not only do braids look artistic and beautiful, they also hold your hair and save it from damage. "Hair parted in the middle, braided close to the parting on both sides to ear level is in vogue; the remaining long hair can be allowed to flow freely over the back," says Rehman. The soft braid and partially gelled back look is appealing.
Chignons: Chignons can look austere, casual or undone. If you want a hairstyle to showcase your creativity, the chignon is the ideal choice. It is close to outranking the ponytail in popularity and adds a world of class to your look. Rehman suggests a slightly fanned out chignon. Use gel to sleek back wide strands of hair on the crown of the head. The sleeked back strand of hair can be secured with two crossed bobby pins.
For short to medium length hair: Cuts with clean lines, undercuts and multiple layering are in demand this summer. Says Rehman, "A lot of texture, movement and versatility are keys to wearing these cuts differently for different occasions."
Colours: Intense coppers, red and violet are the hot hair colours this season. Earthy tones continue being popular.
