The world of interiors takes its inspiration from the fashion world, giving you scope to make some interesting tweaks to your home

If you go by the trends in interiors this year, the inclination is to experiment... but sensibly. Interiors designers are trying their hand at some unique play of designs and materials to breathe inspiration into your living space:

Pink is my colour
Pink is finding its way back into interiors. And it seems to have burst on to the scene with the names like raspberry, fuchsia, petal. Once looked down upon as a girlie colour, it's now making its presence felt as a colour of hope and renewal. The other colour dominating the decor charts is yellow, especially when teamed with other colours. The most popular combo being green-yellow tones; the standard yellow-blue combo is now considered jaded. If you don't want to go entirely yellow, you can try using 'yellow' elements like a yellow vase, pillows or even a bowl of lemons to liven up the decor.

Going concrete
World over, people are opting for concrete counter-tops instead of the steel, marble or wooden. Not only can it be chiseled into a beautiful piece of work, but it is also durable and lasts longer.

Lacy motifs
Taking a leaf from the fashion world, the world of decor is adapting lace and lace like patterns into their decor. Lace is now used on most unlikely places like a dining table and chair set.

Cuts-n-curves
If people are opting for minimal and straight lines when it comes to upholstery, then other designs including of lightings and furniture are taking on a serpentine shape. The latter takes its inspiration from the 18th and 19th century.

Eco friendly moves
Floorings are getting more eco-friendly, and can be seen in recycled material avatars of glass, metal and even bamboo. These options are not only durable, but can also be easily maintained and are easy on the pocket.

Rugs and geometry
Rugs and textiles are going in for bold and in-your-face designs. So don't be surprised to see patterns on your ceilings, floors and furnishing getting more geometrical. People are giving the intricate latticework usually favored by the textile industry a break.
