The busy schedule also forces them to fill up on unhealthy snacks later in the day.
Another 30 per cent of Britons said they ate their food during their commute.
The survey of 2,000 adults commissioned by electrical goods firm Philips also found that the majority of families - 70 per cent - never sit down together to eat breakfast.
The company said it takes an average eight and a half minutes to make and eat breakfast.
"We are a nation of breakfast skippers and family time in the morning seems to have disappeared altogether. But a quick cup of tea and a slice of toast might be more achievable than people realise," the Daily Mail quoted Tina Withington of Philips as saying.
According to the survey, people in Birmingham were the best breakfasters, with 73 per cent regularly sitting down for a morning meal. London was ninth on the list, with 63 per cent eating breakfast regularly.
Dr Ollie Hart, a family GP in Meersbrook, Sheffield, noted: "The danger with missing breakfast is that you get low blood sugar midway through the morning and then you snack.
"If people have breakfast they tend to eat slow-release food such as toast or cereal, which sustains them. But if people miss that meal and get hungry they may eat rubbish," Dr Hart added.
